Training often brings together a blend of different areas, tailored to your team, your setting, and the people you support.
How distress presents in your setting, and how to respond effectively
Recognising and responding to risk and safety concerns
Assessing and supporting people experiencing substance use disorders
Using cognitive behavioural therapy or mindfulness based approaches
Using language that supports engagement, rather than resistance
Responding effectively to difficult or sensitive conversations
Active listening or or counselling skills
Supporting effective group discussions and group work
Understanding what drives behaviour and how change happens
Supporting people who feel stuck, ambivalent, or resistant to change with Motivational Interviewing
Developing effective support plans that are collaborative and achievable
Supporting adjustment to health conditions and life changes
The following examples show how training has been delivered in practice across different settings, tailored to the needs of each team and the challenges they face.
Delivered training in counselling and communication skills to managers within a corporate setting, supporting more effective handling of difficult conversations during a period of organisational relocation.
Worked with a respiratory team to explore factors influencing patients’ willingness to discuss emotional wellbeing, including clinician approach, language, and stigma. The training focused on supporting more effective conversations, addressing motivation and illness beliefs, and highlighting the role of psychological wellbeing in physical health outcomes.
Worked with a community stroke team to support staff, including physiotherapists and speech and language therapists, in understanding psychological adjustment following stroke and bringing more psychologically informed approaches into their work to improve engagement and outcomes.
Delivered training to managers within a corporate setting to support emotional regulation during a period of organisational change, drawing on mindfulness, CBT-informed approaches, and practical strategies to manage stress and workload.
Delivered drug and alcohol awareness training to staff in supported accommodation following incidents involving withdrawal and overdose. The training focused on increasing understanding of different substances, recognising risk, and supporting safer, more confident responses.
Delivered training to a rehabilitation team to support discussions around risk of harm, following identified challenges within the team. The session focused on building confidence in asking about risk, dispelling common myths, and providing practical approaches to safety planning.
If you’re interested in training for your team, or would like to have an informal discussion about your needs, feel free to get in touch.
